PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE FRIDAY, AUGUST 13, 2010 WEST TEXAS ROUGHNECKS LAUNCH YOUTH FOOTBALL LEAGUE BEGINNING IN SEPTEMBER REGISTRATION SCHEDULED FOR AUGUST 28 FROM ECTOR COUNTY COLISEUM, FIRST GAMES SET FOR SEPTEMBER 18 MIDLAND, TX. : The West Texas Roughnecks have announced on Friday, August 13 that the organization has officially launched the West Texas Roughnecks Youth Football League, also titled the “RYFL”, beginning this fall. The West Texas Roughnecks Youth Football League is open to the Permian Basin community with games to be played in Odessa. The RYFL is open to children from third to sixth grade, however only third grade teams will be playing flag football games.
Registration and weight-ins for the youth football league will take place from the Ector County Coliseum on Saturday, August 28 beginning at 10:00 a.m. and running until 6:00 p.m. Practices are set to begin on Tuesday, September 2 with the first set of games scheduled for Saturday, September 18. Teams will be formed based on address locations and further information on specific locations for games & league participation fees will be announced at a later time. In addition, Roughnecks players and Head Coach Chris Williams will be involved with the league throughout the season to help players develop their skills and fundamentals for the game.
